THE HONESTPET DIFFERENCE

Why Michigan Families Choose HonestPet for Their French Bulldog

Buying a puppy online takes trust. Here's what you can count on when you work with us.

Raised in Breeders' Homes

Our breeders raise their French Bulldogs in the house, not in a barn, so by eight weeks the puppies have already slept through a vacuum, a thunderstorm, and a family dinner. That's why a HonestPet Frenchie walks into a Royal Oak bungalow, an Ann Arbor condo, or a lake house near Traverse City and acts like it's been there all along.

Handled From Day Three

Our breeders begin Early Neurological Stimulation when puppies are three days old and follow Puppy Culture practices until they’re ready to join their new families. Short, gentle daily handling helps puppies become more comfortable with new experiences as they grow.

Parent Health Records

Each puppy’s listing identifies the DNA testing status of both mom and dad. Ask to review available parent health records, including any breathing, spine, hip, and knee assessments; screening coverage varies by parent.

Honest Puppy Matching

We'll be honest about which puppy fits your life, even when it isn't the one you clicked on first. The one that breathes most quietly for a family in a Birmingham colonial with a busy schedule, the sturdier one for a Grand Rapids household with kids who'll want to take it sledding, which, with a sweater and a ten-minute limit, it will love.

A Guarantee in Writing

Every puppy comes with a 10-year genetic health guarantee and a digital copy of their vet and vaccine records.

Support for Life

Message our Care360 Team at 10 weeks or 10 years. We stay in touch with our families for the life of the dog.

STATEWIDE DELIVERY

French Bulldog Puppies Delivered Anywhere in Michigan

Every French Bulldog we place was raised in a vetted breeder's home; stores and brokers are not part of how we work. Michigan families choose free ground delivery to the door or a flight nanny who carries the puppy in the cabin into Detroit Metro or a regional airport. Flat-faced breeds are not accepted in cargo, so cabin travel is the only kind we offer, and in deep winter we add a heated vehicle and a short, covered handoff.

ABOUT THE BREED

Why French Bulldogs Do Well in Michigan, Winter Included

A French Bulldog is a 20-to-28-pound block of muscle with bat ears, a flat face, and a sense of humor, and it asks for almost nothing: a short walk, a warm lap, a spot by the window. Michigan asks two things in return. In summer, a Frenchie can't cool itself through that short nose when the humidity settles over the lower peninsula, so July means air conditioning and dawn walks. In winter, the breed's thin single coat and low belly mean a Frenchie gets cold fast, so a real sweater and short, salt-free walks are part of the deal from December to March.

Apartment-Friendly Size

Our French Bulldogs top out at 20 to 28 pounds. That's under the weight cap in most Detroit, Royal Oak, and Ann Arbor apartment buildings, easy to lift over a snowbank, and small enough that a fleece sweater from any pet store fits, which from December to March a Michigan Frenchie will wear.

Short, Smooth Coat

French Bulldogs have short, smooth coats and do shed. Regular brushing helps manage loose hair, and their skin folds need gentle cleaning and drying. They are not a hypoallergenic breed.

Playful Family Companions

Frenchies are playful and affectionate. Supervise interactions with children, teach gentle handling, and give your puppy a quiet place to rest. Keep play short and cool rather than encouraging rough play or long chases.

Patient, Positive Training

A Frenchie can be clever and independent. Use short sessions, rewards, and consistent potty routines to build good habits. Our lifetime training support helps you work through puppy manners without harsh methods.

Short Walks, Cool Play

A Frenchie's exercise needs are a walk around the block twice a day and some rowdy play on the living room floor. In a Michigan summer, walk before the humidity builds and skip the afternoon entirely. In winter, keep walks to ten or fifteen minutes, wipe road salt off the paws and belly afterward, since a Frenchie's underside drags through it, and put on the sweater without apology. On the lake, whether it's Michigan, Huron, or a cottage pond up north, a life vest is required at the dock, because this breed sinks.

Made for Company

French Bulldogs enjoy being near their people. Build up time alone gradually, and arrange company and potty breaks when you will be away for long stretches. An air-conditioned home and a predictable routine help them stay comfortable.

GETTING YOUR PUPPY HOME

Three Ways to Get Your French Bulldog Home

Most Michigan families take free ground delivery straight to the door, which for a flat-faced puppy is the trip with the fewest variables. Prefer to fly? A flight nanny carries your Frenchie in the cabin to one of eight Michigan airports, never in cargo, which airlines prohibit for the breed in any case. Both ways, we agree on a date together and keep you updated until the puppy is inside.

Most Popular

Ground Transport

Ground delivery is our recommendation for a French Bulldog, and the Michigan route is built for the season: a climate-controlled vehicle that's cooled in July and heated in January, a ventilated crate, quick stops, and a handoff that happens indoors or under cover when it's below freezing. Most puppies sleep through it and wake up at your door.

Pick Up at the Breeder

Would you like to meet your puppy first? When the breeder's location and timing make it possible, HonestPet can set up an in-person visit before your Frenchie makes the trip to Michigan.

Flight Nanny

A flat $799 to any Michigan airport we serve. Your Frenchie travels in a ventilated soft carrier at the nanny's feet in the cabin, the only way this breed should ever fly, and it also sidesteps the winter temperature embargoes that keep checked pets off flights into Detroit Metro from December through March. The nanny hands the puppy to you at arrivals, in person.

HEALTH FIRST

French Bulldog Health and Parent Screening

French Bulldogs need particular attention to breathing, heat tolerance, and spine and joint health. Parent screening and available records vary by dog; ask to review the findings for the parents of the puppy you are considering. A DNA test or veterinary exam is not a guarantee against future breathing or mobility problems, and your vet can help plan ongoing care.

Parents & puppies

Airway and Breathing

Flat-faced dogs can have narrowed nostrils and other airway problems. Ask what breathing assessments are available for the parents, and discuss your puppy's breathing with your vet. Snoring and poor exercise tolerance deserve attention rather than being dismissed as normal.

Parents & puppies

Spine and Back Health

Ask about the parents' spine-health history and any available veterinary findings. French Bulldogs can develop spinal problems; keeping them lean and using ramps instead of repeated jumps can help with daily care, but does not eliminate the risk.

Parents & puppies

Hips and Knees

Review any available hip and knee assessments for the parents with our team. Your vet can check your puppy's gait and joints and advise on suitable exercise. Do not assume every parent has had the same examinations.

Parents & puppies

Eye Health

Ask which parent eye examinations or genetic results are available. Frenchies' prominent eyes need care; contact your vet about redness, squinting, or discharge, and protect the eyes during play.

Puppies

Skin Folds and Care

Discuss skin-fold cleaning and any signs of irritation with your vet. Keep folds clean and dry, watch for itching or redness, and ask for guidance before using skin products. Short coats still need regular brushing.

Parents

Parent Health Records

Each puppy’s listing identifies the DNA testing status of both mom and dad. Ask to review available parent health and genetic records before reserving. Genetic results do not replace a clinical assessment of breathing, spine, or joint health.

Puppies

Vet Exam

A licensed vet examines every Frenchie before it leaves for Michigan, and the exam concentrates on what matters in this breed: nostril width, breathing at rest and after a burst of play, a straight spine, sound hips and knees, and healthy skin folds. The vet issues the health certificate required for interstate travel, and the exam, breathing notes and all, goes into the puppy's digital records for your Michigan vet.

Puppies

Shots, Deworming, Microchip

The puppy leaves with every age-appropriate core vaccine on record and a deworming history that started in week two. Your Michigan vet finishes the series, including the rabies shot the state requires before licensing at 4 months, and should put the puppy on heartworm prevention from the first visit, because Michigan mosquitoes make up in summer for what they skip in winter. Ask your vet about a winter weight check, since Frenchies gain in the months they barely go outside and extra weight shrinks an already small airway. The chip is implanted before departure and we help move the registration to you.

Yes. Most Michigan families take free ground delivery to the door, with the puppy in a heated or cooled vehicle depending on the month. Flight nanny delivery is also available into Detroit Metro, Grand Rapids, Flint, Lansing, Saginaw, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, and Marquette, depending on route and availability, with the puppy in the cabin beside the nanny. Cargo is never used for a French Bulldog.

Yes. French Bulldogs have short, smooth coats that shed, and they are not hypoallergenic. Regular brushing helps manage loose hair. If allergies are a concern, discuss the individual puppy with our team before deciding.

Our French Bulldogs typically finish between 20 and 28 pounds. Review the individual puppy’s estimated adult size and parent information with our team, and check your building's pet policy before reserving.

Your puppy comes home with a starter bag of food, a blanket that smells like their littermates, a toy, microchip details, and a digital copy of their vet and vaccine records.

Pick an available puppy then send us an inquiry. After we talk, review the current reservation amount for your puppy before placing your deposit. The deposit goes toward the total price, and the balance is due before go-home day.

Parent testing varies by breeder and by dog. Review the available DNA testing status and health records for the puppy’s mom and dad with our team, including any breathing, spine, hip, and knee assessments. Every puppy receives a veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a microchip before going home. Your vet can help plan ongoing French Bulldog care; screening does not guarantee freedom from future health problems.

Each breeder may have a different preferred puppy food, so we provide the specific brand and formula your puppy is currently eating to help make the transition to your home as smooth as possible. If you decide to switch foods, we recommend transitioning gradually to help avoid digestive upset.

Our puppies go home at 8 weeks old.

THE JOURNEY HOME

How Frenchie Delivery to Michigan Works

Most of our Michigan French Bulldogs come home by free ground delivery to the door. If you'd prefer to fly, a flight nanny brings the puppy in the cabin to one of eight Michigan airports, carrier at their feet in the climate-controlled cabin the whole way.

What ground delivery looks like

  1. We set the date together.Once the vet clears your puppy to travel, we schedule a delivery day and give you an arrival window.
  2. Your puppy rides with a trained handler. They travel in their own crate in a climate-controlled vehicle, with regular stops for water, food, and potty breaks.
  3. We keep you posted. Our delivery team sends updates along the way and lets you know when your puppy is getting close.
  4. We bring your puppy to your door. The handler delivers the puppy and starter bag to your door and goes over the season's rules before leaving, heat in summer, cold and salt in winter. In a downtown Detroit or Ann Arbor building they'll arrange access in advance, and when it's below freezing the handoff happens in the lobby or the garage, never on the sidewalk.
  5. Help them settle in.Have a crate, a few puppy pads, water, and their food ready so your puppy can rest after the trip.

MICHIGAN QUESTIONS

Getting a French Bulldog in Michigan: Your Questions Answered

Winter, humidity, lake days, licensing, and the trip itself: what Michigan Frenchie families want to know before they reserve.

Michigan has no statewide ban, so a few stores still sell French Bulldogs, and because they're the most expensive puppy a commercial kennel produces, those stores source them by the litter from large operations in Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri. What you can't see at the store is the mother, the home, or whether either parent's breathing was ever evaluated. HonestPet is not a pet store. We connect Michigan families directly with vetted breeders who raise Frenchies at home, show you the parents and their screening, and deliver to your door.

Yes, with gear. A Frenchie has a thin single coat, no undercoat, and a belly a few inches off the ground, so it feels a Michigan January immediately. Put on a fitted sweater or coat, keep walks to ten or fifteen minutes below freezing, use paw balm or booties against road salt, and let the puppy do its business and come back in. The upside is that a French Bulldog is perfectly content to spend a snow day on the couch, which is more than you can say for most breeds.

Yes. Michigan requires a license for every dog 4 months and older, sold by the county treasurer, or by the city if you're in Detroit. Bring proof of a current rabies vaccine; most counties offer a discounted three-year license to line up with a three-year rabies shot, and fees drop for spayed and neutered dogs.

Once your reservation is in, HonestPet plans the trip from the breeder's home to yours in Michigan. The puppy gets a final vet exam with its breathing checked at rest and after play, then rides in a climate-controlled delivery vehicle or in the cabin with a flight nanny, never as cargo. You'll have the schedule before departure, a winter handoff that stays out of the cold, and a message at each leg of the trip.

Short, about 1 to 2 hours, which for a brachycephalic puppy is as easy as flying gets. Your Frenchie stays in a ventilated carrier at the nanny's feet in the cabin the entire flight. Because airlines won't accept flat-faced breeds in the hold, the cabin is the only way a French Bulldog reaches Michigan by air, and the nanny also avoids the winter embargo that grounds checked pets at Detroit Metro.

Sometimes. If the breeder's location and schedule allow, HonestPet can arrange a visit so you can meet the puppy and the parents and hear the adults breathe after they've been playing. Our breeders are in different parts of the country and value their privacy, so visits are set up one family at a time rather than offered as open hours.
