Since Maryland closed its pet stores to puppy sales in 2020, a French Bulldog here comes from a breeder or it doesn't come at all. HonestPet connects Maryland families with vetted breeders who raise Frenchie litters at home and screen both parents for the airway and spine issues the breed is known for. Every puppy arrives vet-checked and microchipped, and ground delivery is free to any Maryland address, Canton to Chevy Chase to Ocean City.

THE HONESTPET DIFFERENCE
Why Maryland Families Choose HonestPet for Their French Bulldog
Buying a puppy online takes trust. Here's what you can count on when you work with us.
Raised in Breeders' Homes
Our breeders raise French Bulldogs in the house, where the litter learns a doorbell, a blender, and a six-year-old before anything else. A Frenchie that spends its first eight weeks in a family kitchen instead of a kennel run walks into a Fells Point rowhome, a Bethesda colonial, or an Annapolis townhouse and acts like it's always lived there.
Handled From Day Three
Our breeders begin Early Neurological Stimulation when puppies are three days old and follow Puppy Culture practices until they’re ready to join their new families. Short, gentle daily handling helps puppies become more comfortable with new experiences as they grow.
Parent Health Records
Each puppy’s listing identifies the DNA testing status of both mom and dad. Ask to review available parent health records, including any breathing, spine, hip, and knee assessments; screening coverage varies by parent.
Honest Puppy Matching
We'll tell you which puppy fits, even if it's not the one you've been staring at. For a Silver Spring couple riding Metro with the dog in a carrier, that's the pup that breathes quietest; for a Severna Park family with a boat and three kids, it's the sturdier one that wants to be in on everything, life vest included.
A Guarantee in Writing
Every puppy comes with a 10-year genetic health guarantee and a digital copy of their vet and vaccine records.
Support for Life
Message our Care360 Team at 10 weeks or 10 years. We stay in touch with our families for the life of the dog.
STATEWIDE DELIVERY
French Bulldog Puppies Delivered Anywhere in Maryland
HonestPet French Bulldogs come from vetted breeders who raise them at home, and since Maryland stores can't sell puppies anyway, that's the only honest route left. Nearly every Maryland family takes free ground delivery to the door, though a flight nanny can bring the puppy in the cabin into BWI, Reagan, Dulles, or Salisbury. Flat-faced breeds are barred from cargo, so cabin is the only flight we book, and summer handoffs around the Bay are timed for early morning.

Why French Bulldogs Fit Maryland, Rowhome to Bay House
A French Bulldog is a sturdy 20 to 28 pounds with bat ears, a wrinkled face, and a sense of humor, and it wants what a Baltimore rowhome or a Bethesda condo offers: a short walk, a warm couch, and company. It barely barks and doesn't need a yard. What Maryland adds is a Bay summer, humid from June into September, and a flat face can't move enough air to cool a dog through that, so the breed lives in air conditioning and walks at the edges of the day. Winters are mild enough that a sweater and short walks cover it.
Apartment-Friendly Size
Our Frenchies grow to 20 to 28 pounds. That's under the pet cap in most Harbor East and Bethesda buildings, fits the enclosed carrier Metro requires, and is light enough to carry up the narrow stairs of a Federal Hill rowhome, which you'll do while the puppy is growing to protect its spine.
Short, Smooth Coat
French Bulldogs have short, smooth coats and do shed. Regular brushing helps manage loose hair, and their skin folds need gentle cleaning and drying. They are not a hypoallergenic breed.
Playful Family Companions
Frenchies are playful and affectionate. Supervise interactions with children, teach gentle handling, and give your puppy a quiet place to rest. Keep play short and cool rather than encouraging rough play or long chases.
Patient, Positive Training
A Frenchie can be clever and independent. Use short sessions, rewards, and consistent potty routines to build good habits. Our lifetime training support helps you work through puppy manners without harsh methods.
Short Walks, Cool Play
Two short walks and some play on the rug are all the exercise a Frenchie needs. In a Maryland summer, walk early and after dark, keep it to fifteen minutes, and come in at the first heavy pant. At Ocean City, remember that dogs are off the beach and boardwalk from May through September anyway, and the sand is too hot for a Frenchie's paws by ten. On the Bay, the Severn, Deep Creek, or any boat, a life vest goes on at the dock, because French Bulldogs cannot swim and the Chesapeake doesn't give second chances.
Made for Company
French Bulldogs enjoy being near their people. Build up time alone gradually, and arrange company and potty breaks when you will be away for long stretches. An air-conditioned home and a predictable routine help them stay comfortable.

GETTING YOUR PUPPY HOME
Three Ways to Get Your French Bulldog Home
Nearly all Maryland families take free ground delivery to the door, which for a flat-faced puppy is a short, climate-controlled drive and the easiest trip there is. If you'd prefer to fly, a flight nanny carries your Frenchie in the cabin to one of four airports serving Maryland; cargo is closed to French Bulldogs by airline rule, and by ours. Either way, we settle the date together and send updates until the puppy is inside.
Most Popular
Ground Transport
Ground delivery is our first choice for a Frenchie, and Maryland is a short run from many of our breeders: cooled vehicle, ventilated crate, brief stops, and a handoff timed before the humidity builds in summer. Most puppies nap from the breeder's driveway to yours and never see BWI.
Pick Up at the Breeder
Hoping to meet your puppy first? If the breeder's location and schedule make it possible, HonestPet can help arrange an in-person visit before your Frenchie travels to Maryland.
Flight Nanny
A flat $799 into any airport we serve for Maryland. Your Frenchie rides in a ventilated soft carrier at the nanny's feet in the cabin, the only way this breed should ever fly, and BWI, Reagan, and Dulles between them take a nonstop from almost anywhere, which keeps a brachycephalic puppy's transit short. The nanny walks out at arrivals and hands you the puppy.

HEALTH FIRST
French Bulldog Health and Parent Screening
French Bulldogs need particular attention to breathing, heat tolerance, and spine and joint health. Parent screening and available records vary by dog; ask to review the findings for the parents of the puppy you are considering. A DNA test or veterinary exam is not a guarantee against future breathing or mobility problems, and your vet can help plan ongoing care.
Parents & puppies
Airway and Breathing
Flat-faced dogs can have narrowed nostrils and other airway problems. Ask what breathing assessments are available for the parents, and discuss your puppy's breathing with your vet. Snoring and poor exercise tolerance deserve attention rather than being dismissed as normal.
Parents & puppies
Spine and Back Health
Ask about the parents' spine-health history and any available veterinary findings. French Bulldogs can develop spinal problems; keeping them lean and using ramps instead of repeated jumps can help with daily care, but does not eliminate the risk.
Parents & puppies
Hips and Knees
Review any available hip and knee assessments for the parents with our team. Your vet can check your puppy's gait and joints and advise on suitable exercise. Do not assume every parent has had the same examinations.
Parents & puppies
Eye Health
Ask which parent eye examinations or genetic results are available. Frenchies' prominent eyes need care; contact your vet about redness, squinting, or discharge, and protect the eyes during play.
Puppies
Skin Folds and Care
Discuss skin-fold cleaning and any signs of irritation with your vet. Keep folds clean and dry, watch for itching or redness, and ask for guidance before using skin products. Short coats still need regular brushing.
Parents
Parent Health Records
Each puppy’s listing identifies the DNA testing status of both mom and dad. Ask to review available parent health and genetic records before reserving. Genetic results do not replace a clinical assessment of breathing, spine, or joint health.
Puppies
Vet Exam
Every Frenchie bound for Maryland gets a full exam from a licensed vet before departure, with the breed's weak points front and center: nostril openings, breathing at rest and after play, spine alignment, hips and knees, and the skin folds. The vet issues the certificate of veterinary inspection Maryland requires for dogs entering the state, and the exam notes go into the puppy's digital records for your Baltimore, Montgomery County, or Annapolis vet.
Puppies
Shots, Deworming, Microchip
Age-appropriate core vaccines are complete and documented, and deworming has been on a schedule since the first weeks. Your Maryland vet finishes the series, including the rabies shot state law requires by 4 months, and should start tick and heartworm prevention immediately, since Lyme is heavy from Howard County to the Shore and the Bay's mosquitoes run into October. Ask about fold care in humid weather and about keeping the puppy lean, because in a Frenchie weight is a breathing issue before it's anything else. The puppy is chipped before departure, and we handle the registration transfer with you.
QUESTIONS ANSWERED
French Bulldog Puppy FAQs
Prices vary by puppy. See each available puppy’s listing for the current price, and ask our team to explain the total before reserving. Every puppy comes with a vet exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, a microchip, digital records, lifetime training and support, and free ground delivery to your home.
Yes. Nearly all Maryland families use free ground delivery to the door, which for a Frenchie is a short, cooled drive. In-cabin flight nanny delivery is also available into BWI, Reagan National and Dulles for Montgomery and Prince George's counties, and Salisbury for the Eastern Shore, depending on route and availability, with the puppy at the nanny's feet in the cabin. A French Bulldog never flies in the hold.
Yes. French Bulldogs have short, smooth coats that shed, and they are not hypoallergenic. Regular brushing helps manage loose hair. If allergies are a concern, discuss the individual puppy with our team before deciding.
Our French Bulldogs typically finish between 20 and 28 pounds. Review the individual puppy’s estimated adult size and parent information with our team, and check your building's pet policy before reserving.
Your puppy comes home with a starter bag of food, a blanket that smells like their littermates, a toy, microchip details, and a digital copy of their vet and vaccine records.
Pick an available puppy then send us an inquiry. After we talk, review the current reservation amount for your puppy before placing your deposit. The deposit goes toward the total price, and the balance is due before go-home day.
Parent testing varies by breeder and by dog. Review the available DNA testing status and health records for the puppy’s mom and dad with our team, including any breathing, spine, hip, and knee assessments. Every puppy receives a veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a microchip before going home. Your vet can help plan ongoing French Bulldog care; screening does not guarantee freedom from future health problems.
Each breeder may have a different preferred puppy food, so we provide the specific brand and formula your puppy is currently eating to help make the transition to your home as smooth as possible. If you decide to switch foods, we recommend transitioning gradually to help avoid digestive upset.
Free ground delivery to the door is how nearly every Maryland French Bulldog arrives, and in a state this size it's usually faster than the airport run. If you'd rather fly, the flight nanny brings the puppy in the cabin to one of four airports serving Maryland, carrier at their feet in cabin air the entire trip.

What ground delivery looks like
We set the date together.Once the vet clears your puppy to travel, we schedule a delivery day and give you an arrival window.
Your puppy rides with a trained handler. They travel in their own crate in a climate-controlled vehicle, with regular stops for water, food, and potty breaks.
We keep you posted. Our delivery team sends updates along the way and lets you know when your puppy is getting close.
We bring your puppy to your door. The handler brings your Frenchie and its starter bag to the door and covers the first-night basics for a flat-faced breed before leaving. In a Harbor East or Bethesda building they'll coordinate with the front desk ahead of time, and from June through September the handoff is scheduled for early morning, since a French Bulldog shouldn't wait in Bay humidity.
Help them settle in.Have a crate, a few puppy pads, water, and their food ready so your puppy can rest after the trip.

MARYLAND QUESTIONS
Getting a French Bulldog in Maryland: Your Questions Answered
The 2020 pet store law, rowhome stairs, Bay humidity, county licenses, and how the trip works: what Maryland Frenchie families ask us most.
No. Maryland barred pet stores from selling dogs and cats on January 1, 2020, the second state in the country to do it, so a French Bulldog here can't come from a store window and the only question is which breeder. HonestPet is not a pet store. We connect Maryland families directly with vetted breeders who raise Frenchies at home, share the parents' airway and spine screening, and coordinate delivery to your door.
Yes, and it's one of the most common dogs in both. A Frenchie rarely barks, needs little exercise, and is content in a Canton rowhome or a Silver Spring one-bedroom, and Metro allows it in a closed carrier. Two Maryland notes: rowhome stairs are steep and narrow, so carry the puppy up and down until it's grown to protect its spine; and a Bay summer is more than a flat-faced dog can handle at midday, so plan early walks and keep the AC on. Check your building's weight cap; a Frenchie clears nearly all of them.
In most of the state, yes. Maryland leaves licensing to the counties, and the big ones, Montgomery, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Howard, Anne Arundel, and Prince George's, all require an annual license backed by a current rabies certificate, which state law requires by 4 months. Spayed and neutered dogs pay less.
Once you've reserved, HonestPet organizes the trip from the breeder's home to yours in Maryland. The puppy gets a final vet exam with breathing checked at rest and after play, then rides in a climate-controlled delivery vehicle or, if you've chosen to fly, in the cabin with a flight nanny, never as cargo. We send the schedule ahead of time, keep a summer handoff out of the heat, and message you at each stage.
Short, usually 1 to 2 hours into BWI or the Washington airports, often nonstop, which is the easy case for a brachycephalic puppy. Your Frenchie stays in a ventilated carrier at the nanny's feet in the cabin the entire flight; the hold is never used for a French Bulldog. For most Maryland addresses, though, ground delivery to the door takes no longer.
Sometimes. When the breeder's location and schedule permit, HonestPet can arrange a visit so you can meet the puppy and the parents and hear how the adults breathe after a bit of play. Our breeders live in different places and we keep their locations private, so visits are arranged one family at a time rather than offered as open appointments.
