THE HONESTPET DIFFERENCE

Why Connecticut Families Choose HonestPet for Their Frenchie

Buying a puppy online takes trust. Here's what you can count on when you work with us.

Raised in Breeders' Homes

Our breeders raise French Bulldogs in the house, where the puppies learn the sound of a garage door, a blender, and a kid's backpack hitting the floor before they're old enough to leave. A Frenchie that spent its first eight weeks in a family kitchen walks into a Stamford high-rise, a Westport colonial, or a West Hartford center-hall and treats it as home from the first evening.

Handled From Day Three

Our breeders begin Early Neurological Stimulation when puppies are three days old and follow Puppy Culture practices until they’re ready to join their new families. Short, gentle daily handling helps puppies become more comfortable with new experiences as they grow.

Parent Health Records

Each puppy’s listing identifies the DNA testing status of both mom and dad. Ask to review available parent health records, including any breathing, spine, hip, and knee assessments; screening coverage varies by parent.

Honest Puppy Matching

We'll tell you which puppy fits your life, even if it isn't the one whose photo you've been sending around. For a couple in a Harbor Point apartment who'll take the dog on Metro-North, that's the pup that breathes quietest in a carrier; for a Glastonbury family with a yard and three kids, it's the sturdier one that wants in on every game.

A Guarantee in Writing

Every puppy comes with a 10-year genetic health guarantee and a digital copy of their vet and vaccine records.

Support for Life

Message our Care360 Team at 10 weeks or 10 years. We stay in touch with our families for the life of the dog.

STATEWIDE DELIVERY

French Bulldog Puppies Delivered Anywhere in Connecticut

Every HonestPet French Bulldog grows up in a vetted breeder's home, and no store or broker ever touches it. In a state this compact, nearly every family takes free ground delivery to the door, though a flight nanny can bring the puppy in the cabin into Bradley, Tweed, Westchester, or Providence. Flat-faced breeds are barred from cargo, so cabin is the only flight we book, and summer handoffs along the Sound are timed for early morning.

ABOUT THE BREED

Why French Bulldogs Fit Connecticut, Metro-North to the Shoreline

A French Bulldog is a sturdy 20 to 28 pounds with bat ears, a wrinkled face, and a sense of humor, and it wants what a Stamford apartment or a Fairfield colonial offers: a short walk, a warm couch, and company. It barely barks and doesn't need a yard. Connecticut's weather is mostly on the breed's side, with a few humid weeks each summer when a flat face can't cool a dog and a few months each winter when a thin coat needs a sweater. Spring and fall on the Shoreline, a Frenchie has it as good as anywhere.

Apartment-Friendly Size

Our Frenchies grow to 20 to 28 pounds. That's under the pet cap in most Harbor Point and downtown Stamford buildings, fits the carrier Metro-North requires for the ride into Grand Central, and is light enough to carry across hot sand at Compo or Hammonasset, which in August is how this breed crosses a beach.

Short, Smooth Coat

French Bulldogs have short, smooth coats and do shed. Regular brushing helps manage loose hair, and their skin folds need gentle cleaning and drying. They are not a hypoallergenic breed.

Playful Family Companions

Frenchies are playful and affectionate. Supervise interactions with children, teach gentle handling, and give your puppy a quiet place to rest. Keep play short and cool rather than encouraging rough play or long chases.

Patient, Positive Training

A Frenchie can be clever and independent. Use short sessions, rewards, and consistent potty routines to build good habits. Our lifetime training support helps you work through puppy manners without harsh methods.

Short Walks, Cool Play

Two short walks and some play on the rug are all the exercise a Frenchie needs. In a Connecticut July, walk early and after dark and skip the Shoreline at noon; in January, a fitted sweater, ten-minute walks, and a wipe-down for road salt. On the Sound, on Candlewood Lake, or on a boat out of Mystic, a life vest goes on before the puppy is near the water, because French Bulldogs cannot swim. And since the tick that gave Lyme disease its name was found in a Connecticut town, prevention starts at the first vet visit.

Made for Company

French Bulldogs enjoy being near their people. Build up time alone gradually, and arrange company and potty breaks when you will be away for long stretches. An air-conditioned home and a predictable routine help them stay comfortable.

GETTING YOUR PUPPY HOME

Three Ways to Get Your French Bulldog Home

Nearly all Connecticut families take free ground delivery to the door, which for a flat-faced puppy is a short, climate-controlled drive and the easiest trip there is. If you'd prefer to fly, a flight nanny carries your Frenchie in the cabin to one of four airports serving Connecticut; cargo is closed to French Bulldogs by airline rule, and by ours. Both ways, we confirm the date with you and keep the updates coming until the puppy is inside.

Most Popular

Ground Transport

Ground delivery is our first choice for a Frenchie, and Connecticut is a short run from many of our breeders: cooled vehicle in summer, heated in winter, a ventilated crate, brief stops, and a handoff timed around the heat or moved into the lobby when it's below freezing. Most puppies nap from the breeder's driveway to yours and never see an airport.

Pick Up at the Breeder

Prefer to meet your puppy first? When the breeder's location and schedule line up, HonestPet can help set up an in-person visit before your Frenchie travels to Connecticut.

Flight Nanny

A flat $799 into any airport we serve for Connecticut. Your Frenchie rides in a ventilated soft carrier at the nanny's feet in the cabin, the only way this breed should ever fly, and Bradley and Westchester both take nonstops from several breeder regions, which keeps a brachycephalic puppy's transit short. At arrivals the nanny walks out and puts the puppy in your arms.

HEALTH FIRST

French Bulldog Health and Parent Screening

French Bulldogs need particular attention to breathing, heat tolerance, and spine and joint health. Parent screening and available records vary by dog; ask to review the findings for the parents of the puppy you are considering. A DNA test or veterinary exam is not a guarantee against future breathing or mobility problems, and your vet can help plan ongoing care.

Parents & puppies

Airway and Breathing

Flat-faced dogs can have narrowed nostrils and other airway problems. Ask what breathing assessments are available for the parents, and discuss your puppy's breathing with your vet. Snoring and poor exercise tolerance deserve attention rather than being dismissed as normal.

Parents & puppies

Spine and Back Health

Ask about the parents' spine-health history and any available veterinary findings. French Bulldogs can develop spinal problems; keeping them lean and using ramps instead of repeated jumps can help with daily care, but does not eliminate the risk.

Parents & puppies

Hips and Knees

Review any available hip and knee assessments for the parents with our team. Your vet can check your puppy's gait and joints and advise on suitable exercise. Do not assume every parent has had the same examinations.

Parents & puppies

Eye Health

Ask which parent eye examinations or genetic results are available. Frenchies' prominent eyes need care; contact your vet about redness, squinting, or discharge, and protect the eyes during play.

Puppies

Skin Folds and Care

Discuss skin-fold cleaning and any signs of irritation with your vet. Keep folds clean and dry, watch for itching or redness, and ask for guidance before using skin products. Short coats still need regular brushing.

Parents

Parent Health Records

Each puppy’s listing identifies the DNA testing status of both mom and dad. Ask to review available parent health and genetic records before reserving. Genetic results do not replace a clinical assessment of breathing, spine, or joint health.

Puppies

Vet Exam

Every Frenchie bound for Connecticut gets a full exam from a licensed vet before departure, and the vet looks hardest at what goes wrong in this breed: nostril openings, breathing at rest and after play, spine alignment, hips and knees, and the skin folds. The vet issues the certificate of veterinary inspection Connecticut requires for dogs entering the state, and the exam notes go into the puppy's digital records for your Fairfield County, New Haven, or Hartford vet.

Puppies

Shots, Deworming, Microchip

The puppy arrives with every core vaccine due for its age and a deworming record that starts in the whelping box. Your Connecticut vet finishes the series, including the rabies shot the state requires by 3 months and that your town clerk will ask about at licensing time, and should start tick prevention immediately, since Lyme is heavier in Connecticut than almost anywhere. A winter weigh-in is worth asking about as well; a Frenchie that spends January on the couch gains quickly, and every extra pound narrows a short airway. The microchip is in before departure, and we help get it registered to you.

Yes. Nearly all Connecticut families use free ground delivery to the door, which for a Frenchie is a short, climate-controlled drive. In-cabin flight nanny delivery is also available into Bradley, Tweed New Haven, Westchester County for Fairfield County, and Providence for the eastern shoreline, depending on route and availability, with the puppy at the nanny's feet in the cabin. A French Bulldog never travels in the hold.

Yes. French Bulldogs have short, smooth coats that shed, and they are not hypoallergenic. Regular brushing helps manage loose hair. If allergies are a concern, discuss the individual puppy with our team before deciding.

Our French Bulldogs typically finish between 20 and 28 pounds. Review the individual puppy’s estimated adult size and parent information with our team, and check your building's pet policy before reserving.

Parent testing varies by breeder and by dog. Review the available DNA testing status and health records for the puppy’s mom and dad with our team, including any breathing, spine, hip, and knee assessments. Every puppy receives a veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a microchip before going home. Your vet can help plan ongoing French Bulldog care; screening does not guarantee freedom from future health problems.

Each breeder may have a different preferred puppy food, so we provide the specific brand and formula your puppy is currently eating to help make the transition to your home as smooth as possible. If you decide to switch foods, we recommend transitioning gradually to help avoid digestive upset.

Our puppies go home at 8 weeks old.

THE JOURNEY HOME

How Frenchie Delivery to Connecticut Works

Free ground delivery to the door is how nearly every Connecticut French Bulldog arrives, and in a state this size it's usually quicker than the airport run. If you'd rather fly, the flight nanny brings the puppy in the cabin to one of four airports serving Connecticut, carrier at their feet in cabin air the entire trip.

What ground delivery looks like

  1. We set the date together.Once the vet clears your puppy to travel, we schedule a delivery day and give you an arrival window.
  2. Your puppy rides with a trained handler. They travel in their own crate in a climate-controlled vehicle, with regular stops for water, food, and potty breaks.
  3. We keep you posted. Our delivery team sends updates along the way and lets you know when your puppy is getting close.
  4. We bring your puppy to your door.Your handler carries the puppy and starter bag to the door and goes over whichever season you're in, Sound humidity in July or salt and cold in January. In a Stamford or New Haven building they'll coordinate with the concierge in advance, and when it's below freezing the handoff happens in the lobby, not on the sidewalk.
  5. Help them settle in.Have a crate, a few puppy pads, water, and their food ready so your puppy can rest after the trip.

CONNECTICUT QUESTIONS

Getting a French Bulldog in Connecticut: Your Questions Answered

Commuting with a Frenchie, Shoreline summers, town licenses, pet store rules, and how the trip works: the questions Connecticut families ask us most.

Connecticut has no statewide ban, and the state has generally held that towns can't pass their own, though a bill to change that comes up nearly every session. Pet shops do have to post each puppy's breeder and origin under state law, and for a Frenchie that sign usually points to a large Midwestern kennel where nobody checked the parents' airways. A sign on a cage still doesn't show you the mother or the home. HonestPet is not a pet store. We connect Connecticut families directly with vetted breeders who raise French Bulldogs at home, share the parents' screening, and deliver to your door.

One of the best. A Frenchie rarely barks, needs very little exercise, and is content in a Harbor Point one-bedroom or an East Rock flat, and Metro-North allows it in a carrier for the commute. Two Connecticut notes: a French Bulldog's spine doesn't love stairs, so carry the puppy up and down a walk-up until it's grown, and a humid July week along the Sound calls for air conditioning and early walks. Check your building's weight cap, which a Frenchie clears almost everywhere.

Yes. Once your Frenchie is 6 months old, Connecticut requires a license from your town clerk, and the license year runs June to June, so renewals are due by June 30 with a late fee after that. The clerk will ask for a current rabies certificate, which Connecticut requires by 3 months, and a spayed or neutered Frenchie pays the lower fee.

Once you've reserved, HonestPet arranges the trip from the breeder's home to yours in Connecticut. First comes a final vet exam with the breathing checked at rest and after play; then the puppy rides in a climate-controlled vehicle or in the cabin with a flight nanny, never in cargo. You'll have the schedule before departure, a handoff kept out of the heat or the cold, and a message at each stage.

Short, usually 1 to 2 hours into Bradley or Westchester, often nonstop, which is the easy case for a brachycephalic puppy. The puppy is in a ventilated carrier at the nanny's feet for the entire flight, and the hold is never used. For most Connecticut addresses, though, ground delivery to the door is just as fast.

In some cases. Where the breeder's location and calendar make it possible, HonestPet can arrange a visit so you meet the puppy and the parents and listen to how the adults breathe after a few minutes of play. Our breeders are spread across several states and we keep their addresses private, so each visit is arranged separately rather than offered as an open appointment.
