THE HONESTPET DIFFERENCE

Why California Families Choose HonestPet

Buying a puppy online takes trust. Here's what you can count on when you work with us.

Raised in Breeders' Homes

Our breeders raise their puppies inside their own homes, not in kennel runs. Puppies that have already lived with doorbells, blenders, and kids adjust faster, whether they're moving into a Santa Monica apartment, a Walnut Creek house, or a ranch outside Fresno.

Handled From Day Three

Our breeders begin Early Neurological Stimulation when puppies are three days old and follow Puppy Culture practices until they’re ready to join their new families. Short, gentle daily handling helps puppies become more comfortable with new experiences as they grow.

Health-Tested Parents

Most of our puppies’ parents are DNA tested. Each puppy’s listing identifies the DNA testing status of both mom and dad, so you can review this information before choosing your puppy.

Honest Puppy Matching

We'll steer you toward the puppy that fits your days, not just the one with the best photo. A quiet pup for a one-bedroom in San Jose, a more outgoing one for a family that spends weekends at the dog beach in Huntington.

A Guarantee in Writing

Every puppy comes with a 10-year genetic health guarantee and a digital copy of their vet and vaccine records.

Support for Life

Message our Care360 Team at 10 weeks or 10 years. We stay in touch with our families for the life of the dog.

STATEWIDE DELIVERY

Cavapoo Puppies Delivered Anywhere in California

ABOUT THE BREED

Why Cavapoos Fit California Life

A Cavapoo blends a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a Poodle, pairing the Cavalier's gentle, people-first personality with the Poodle's intelligence and low-shedding coat. They're built for the way many Californians live: small enough for a city apartment, easygoing in the car, and content with a daily walk and a weekend at the beach.

Apartment-Friendly Size

Most of our Cavapoos finish between 10 and 23 pounds. That's under the weight caps many California apartment buildings and HOAs enforce, and small enough to ride in a carrier on BART, Muni, or the Metro.

Low-Shedding Coat

Their wavy or curly coats shed very little. No dog is fully hypoallergenic, but many people with mild allergies live comfortably with a Cavapoo.

Gentle With Kids

Cavapoos are patient and gentle, which is why so many families with young children choose them. Supervised play is still a must.

Quick to Train

Poodle smarts plus a real wish to please. Short, consistent sessions go a long way with potty training and basic manners.

Moderate Energy

A daily walk and some play is enough for a Cavapoo. California's mild coast makes that easy most of the year; inland, keep summer walks to mornings and evenings. One California-specific tip: check their ears and paws for foxtails after walks in dry grass from late spring through fall.

Made for Company

Cavapoos want to be wherever you are. They're a great fit for work-from-home schedules. If you're gone 10 hours a day, plan on a dog walker.

GETTING YOUR PUPPY HOME

Three Ways to Get Your Cavapoo Home

Most California families choose free ground delivery, which brings your puppy to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle. If you'd rather not wait for the cross-country drive, a flight nanny can fly your puppy in the cabin to one of nine California airports. Our team coordinates the date with you either way and keeps you posted until your puppy arrives.

Most Popular

Ground Transport

Ground delivery to California is a longer trip than to most states, so our drivers plan it around the puppy: climate-controlled vehicles, frequent water and potty stops, and overnight rest when the route calls for it. Cavapoos are relaxed travelers, and most arrive sleepy, curious, and ready to explore.

Pick Up at the Breeder

Prefer to meet your puppy in person before committing? When the breeder's location and schedule allow, HonestPet can arrange a visit ahead of delivery to California.

Flight Nanny

A flat $799 to any California airport we serve. Your puppy flies in the cabin with the nanny, never in cargo, which also sidesteps the summer heat restrictions airlines put on checked pets. The nanny walks out to arrivals and hands your puppy to you.

HEALTH FIRST

Cavapoo Parent Health Screening

Cavaliers and Poodles each have known inherited health risks, which is why we’re working toward having all of our breeders complete genetic screening for the conditions most relevant to the Cavapoo breed. Testing varies by parent; ask to review available results for the parents of any puppy you’re considering.

Parents

Curly Coat / Dry Eye Syndrome

A Cavalier condition that shows up in a puppy's first weeks. Affected puppies can't make normal tears and develop a rough coat, flaky skin, and cracked, sore paw pads. It's only a risk when both parents have Cavalier ancestry, as in F2 and multigeneration Cavapoos.

Parents

Degenerative Myelopathy

A slow spinal cord disease that usually doesn't appear until later in life, often after age 8. It starts with wobbly, dragging back legs and gradually leads to hind-end weakness. It isn't painful, but there's no cure, so testing the parents is the best protection.

Parents

Episodic Falling Syndrome

Another Cavalier condition. When an affected dog gets excited, stressed, or exercises hard, its muscles stiffen and it may freeze mid-step or fall over. The dog stays fully awake through each episode. Signs usually start before the first birthday.

Parents

Neonatal Encephalopathy

A Poodle condition that affects newborns. Affected puppies are born small and weak, have trouble with balance, and often develop seizures. Because they rarely survive their first few weeks, this test is about pairing parents so no puppy is born with it.

Parents

Progressive Retinal Atrophy

One of the more common inherited conditions in Toy and Miniature Poodles. The retina slowly breaks down, starting with night blindness in adulthood and often leading to full blindness. It isn't painful and most dogs adjust well, but the vision loss can't be reversed.

Parents

von Willebrand Disease

A bleeding disorder where blood doesn't clot as well as it should. Many dogs with it live normal lives, but they can bleed longer after surgery, an injury, or losing baby teeth. Knowing the parents' results helps your vet plan ahead for spay or neuter.

Puppies

Vet Exam

Before leaving for California, every puppy gets a nose-to-tail exam from a licensed vet, covering the heart and lungs, eyes, ears, teeth, skin, and a hernia check. The vet issues the certificate of veterinary inspection required for interstate travel, and a copy of the exam is stored in the puppy's digital records for your California vet.

Puppies

Shots, Deworming, Microchip

Each puppy is current on core vaccines for their age and has been dewormed on a regular schedule since their first weeks. Your vet completes the series, including the rabies vaccine California requires by 4 months of age, which you'll need before licensing. Every puppy is microchipped, and we'll help you register the chip in your name.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Cavapoo Puppy FAQs

Our Cavapoo puppies are $2,500 to $6,000, depending on size, coat, and color. The price of each puppy includes vaccinations, deworming, a microchip, a vet exam, lifetime training and support, a digital copy of their records, and free ground delivery to your home.

Yes. Most California families choose free ground delivery to their door. Flight nanny delivery is also available to major California airports including Los Angeles, Orange County, Ontario, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, and Fresno, depending on route and availability.

While no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, Cavapoos are known for their low-shedding coats and can be a good choice for some families with mild dog allergies. How much a Cavapoo sheds can vary based on their individual coat genetics and generation, with some puppies inheriting more of the Poodle’s low-shedding coat characteristics. If allergies or shedding are a concern, review each puppy’s generation and coat type, and talk with our team about which available Cavapoo may be the best fit for your family.

Most Cavapoos weigh 10 to 23 pounds and stand 9 to 14 inches tall as adults. Size depends mostly on the Poodle parent. We list an estimated adult weight for every puppy we have available.

Your puppy comes home with a starter bag of food, a blanket that smells like their littermates, a toy, microchip details, and a digital copy of their vet and vaccine records.

Pick an available puppy then send us an inquiry. After we talk, a $349 deposit holds your puppy. The balance is due before go-home day.

We’re working toward having every parent DNA tested and screened for relevant heart, knee, and eye conditions before breeding. Every puppy also receives a veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a microchip before going home. Available parent health and genetic testing results can be viewed on our Parents page.

Each breeder may have a different preferred puppy food, so we provide the specific brand and formula your puppy is currently eating to help make the transition to your home as smooth as possible. If you decide to switch foods, we recommend transitioning gradually to help avoid digestive upset.

Our puppies go home at 8 weeks old.

CALIFORNIA QUESTIONS

Getting a Cavapoo in California: Your Questions Answered

The practical questions California families ask us most, from the pet store law to licensing and airport pickups.

No. Since January 1, 2019, California pet stores have been allowed to offer only dogs, cats, and rabbits from shelters and rescues, so a Cavapoo puppy from a breeder can't come from a store. HonestPet is not a pet store. We connect California families directly with vetted home breeders, share each puppy's parent health testing, and coordinate delivery to your door.

For most people, yes. Cavapoos are small, relatively quiet, and content without a yard, which suits a studio in the Mission or a two-bedroom in Culver City. Check your lease or HOA rules first, since many California buildings set pet weight limits and charge pet deposits or pet rent. A few short walks a day, plus a dog walker if you're gone all day, will keep a Cavapoo happy.

Yes. California requires dog licensing, and it's handled by your city or county: Los Angeles Animal Services, San Diego Humane Society, San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and county animal services elsewhere. You'll need a current rabies certificate to apply, and state law requires that rabies vaccine by 4 months of age. Some cities, including Los Angeles, also require spay or neuter by a certain age unless you qualify for an exemption, so ask your vet about timing.

Once your puppy is reserved, HonestPet plans the route from the breeder's home to yours. Your puppy gets a final vet exam and a travel health certificate, then makes the trip west either by climate-controlled ground delivery to your door or in the cabin with a flight nanny to the airport closest to you. We confirm the schedule with you and send updates along the way.

Flights to California usually run 3 to 5 hours, depending on where the breeder is located and which airport you choose, and the nanny books nonstop routes whenever possible. Your puppy stays with the flight nanny the whole way and rides in the cabin, never in cargo.

Sometimes. When the breeder's location and schedule allow, HonestPet can arrange an in-person visit before delivery. Because our breeders are located in different areas and we protect their privacy, visits are set up individually rather than offered as public appointments.
